Mangaluru: Challenging Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, former MLA J R Lobo said that he will show the former how to construct a residential complex for the poor in Shakthinagar.
It can be recalled that Lobo and Kamath have been verbally attacking each other over a government project regarding the construction of a residential complex for the poor in Shakthinagar. Kamath had alleged that Lobo did not secure clearance from the forest department before going ahead with the project, resulting in a stalling of the work. It is said that the land was actually deemed forest land.
Lobo, however, convened a press conference in the city on Friday, November 8 and countered Kamath’s claims, stating that the latter did not know how to work as an MLA. “If he doesn’t know the work, he should seek my help and I am ready to extend my help. If measures were to be taken to provide a same portion of revenue land as forest land in other areas, a residential complex can be built at the same site in Shakthinagar,” he said.
Lobo also claimed that Kamath has failed to carry out his duties as an MLA and that he should tender his resignation immediately. “Most of the developmental works like the smart city project, Kadri, Kudroli and Kankanady markets have not been started yet,” he said.
Former MLA Shakunthala Shetty and Congress leader N S Kareem were also present.
