Two boats capsize in Alivebagilu, 12 fishermen injured

Kasaragod: Twelve fishermen were injured after two boats capsized on Thursday near Kiyur Alivebagilu. Both the boats are severely damaged and a loss worth Rs 12 lakhs has been reported.

The fishermen injured are Umeshan(35), Abdul Khader(31), Ranjith(43), Vijesh(30), Ashokan(36), Lalu(30), Saibabu(42), Chandran(40), Shashi(40), Sabith(35), Binu(35) from Kiyur and Balan(49) from Kasaba Kadappura. They have been admitted to General hospital.

A boat belonging to Shri Kurumba company and another boat ‘Sakiya’ owned by Yusuf capsized due to heavy wind. However, the locals rescued the fishermen.

The locals have blamed the Coastal police for delay in arriving to the spot despite being informed about the accident.
