Tulu in schools: Academy to hold consultative meeting on Oct 21

Mangaluru: The Tulu Sahitya Academy has called for a consultative meeting of all stakeholders on October 21 to discuss about the implementation of Tulu language in more number of schools in undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

Presently Tulu is being taught as III language for children from 6th-10th standards. Around 1847 students from 37 schools in undivided Dakshina Kannada district are studying Tulu in schools, with 483 slated to take SSLC examination during the end of current academic year.

The academy seeks suggestion to implement Tulu in 100 schools from the next academic year. People who support and love the language can express their views during the meeting scheduled at 2.30 PM on October 21, stated a release from Tulu Sahitya Academy.
