Bantwal: The Forest Department is contemplating to establish Tree Parks in every Assembly segment of the state and the ambitious project will be implemented in phases.
Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanath Rai, addressing the gathering after inaugurating ‘Siri Chandanavana’ at Kelinje Veerakamba DK Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School on Friday said that tree parks have been established at Tannirbavi in Mangaluru and Badagabettu in Udupi and there are plans to have these parks established in Bantwal (in front of IB) and Birumalebetta in Puttur.
While medicinal plants will planted in Karija, the park at Puttur will be developed as ‘Devi Baidethi Medicinal Park’. Kelinja ‘Sirichandanavana’ has over 3,000 sandal saplings spread over 500 acres land.
The Minister said that ‘Chinnara Vana Darshana’ programmes will be held with the aim of developing awareness among children about forest, ecology and the need to protect the same.
Meanwhile, the Minister said that there will be no scope for any non-forest activities within the forest limits.
