Kasargod: A few hours before BJP National President Amit Shah was slated to arrive in Kerala for the launch of the ‘Jan Raksha Yatra’ on Tuesday, three BJP workers were attacked by people suspected to be CPI(M) workers in Neeleswaram town in Kasargod district.
The attack is said to have occured around 9.30 PM on Monday. The BJP workers were decorating a part of the National Highway 66, ahead of the 15-day march that was to be launched by Shah.
A BJP affiliate claimed that the CPI(M) workers felt threatened by the ‘growing political influence’ of the BJP in Kerala.
Witnesses alleged that nearly 20 CPI(M) workers attacked BJP activists without provocation, at Neeleswaram market.
Flex boards, tube-lights and a two-wheeler were also damaged during the attack.
CM takes to Twitter
Meanwhile, retaliating to a recent statement made by Human Resource Minister Prakash Javadekar that CPI(M) is “Communist Party- Maoist”, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a series of tweets slammed the Rashtriya Svyayamsevak Sangh.

“Yesterday RSS; now Union Minister makes insulting statement against constitutionally elected Kerala Govt. Total disrespect of Federalism. It sounds nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt for upcoming BJP chief Amit Shah’s rally in Kerala, Aren’t you also Instigating Hatred?”, read the tweet from the CM.
It all started when RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat alleged that the Kerala State Government supported anti-national elements and in quick response the CM said that Keralites do not need lessons on patriotism from the RSS. Javadekar had come in support of Bhagwat, which lead to the twitter war.
