Mangaluru: B Ramanath Rai, district-in-charge minister, has criticized his party colleague and Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty for succumbing to the pressure from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and considering removing the name of Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim as the host on an invitation card for a temple’s annual festivities.
Media reports accused Shakunthala Shetty of considering bringing out a new invitation card that just indicates the designation, as the Deputy Commissioner.
Rai said that it’s the lack of judgment from the Puttur MLA who is considering changing the invitation and there was nothing wrong in the invitation carrying A B Ibrahim’s name.
Mahalingeshwara temple, Puttur is celebrating its annual car festival.
Ibrahim, speaking on the issue said that this was a non-issue which is being made an issue. He said that his name in the invitation was mentioned as the administrative head of Muzrai temples in the district.
“This has really saddened me. This incident has cast a slur on the image of the district which is known for communal amity in celebrating festivals of different religions,” he said.
