Sullia: Sullia Block Congress members led by their President M Venkappa Gowda protested against the price rise of essential commodities during BJP regime on April 8.

The protestors vented out their ire against price rise during the past one year of BJP rule in the centre, where prices of petrol, diesel and LPG have almost doubled according to them. Common people and farmers have been put to a lot of hard ship by the Tughlaq rule of Modi Government, Venkappa Gowda said addressing the gathering. Despite skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, the ruling BJP government at the centre has failed to arrest the price rise, he alleged.

CMC President and administrative body’s resignation demanded over Kandadka river pollution

Alleging serious lapses by the City Municipal Council (CMC) over the diversion of sewage water into Kandadka river, a tributary of River Payaswini, Block Congress members demanded the resignation of CMC president and administrative body. The CMC administration has to stop the diversion of sewage water failing which they should resign, they said in one voice. They also demanded stringent actions against officials for not taking any action against people over encroachment of river bank and on dumping construction waste (Landfills).

Block Congress members including women, CMC Congress members and other local leaders were present during the protest.
