Sharath’s funeral violence: Sanghis get anticipatory bail

Mangaluru: The Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court granted anticipatory bail to Bharatiya Janata Party Backward Class Morcha State Secretary Sathyajit Surathkal, Bajrang Dal State Convener Sharan Pumpwell, BJP Yuva Morcha Dakshina Kannada District President Harish Poonja, Bajrang Dal activist Pradeep Pumpwell and Goraksha Pramukh Muralikrishna Hasantadka here on July 26.

The Bantwal Town police had registered a case against the 22 accused including five Sangh Parivar leaders following the violence during the funeral procession of RSS activist Sharath Madivala in BC Road. Post violence, police were also successful in arresting 17 accused who too have been granted bail. But the five Sangha Parivar leaders were absconding from the time of the incident.

The five Sangh Parivar leaders had applied for anticipatory bail on on July 18 in the Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court along with 17 other accused.
