Sullia: Inaugurating the Science Park at Sneha School here, recipient of Nation’s highest honour Bharat Ratna, Dr. C N R Rao opined, “India’s future depends on rural children as they are more inclined towards science and research.”
It has been found that rural students are more keen towards science and their eagerness to know more leads to fresh developments, Dr. Rao said talking on “Science and Research” on the occasion.

If the government provides conducive atmosphere for learning in school and colleges and promotes science in a big way, India will garner another Nobel award for Science after Raman, Dr. Rao said.

Science is in great demand in the present age and as it provides plenty of opportunities to grow and attain goals in life, Dr Rao said and urged students to utilise opportunities to excel in individual lives. Present system of grading students on marks and the examination structure is killing the creativity of students, stated Rao and told the students to focus on subjects of their liking.

Dr. Rao exhorted the gathering not to strive for awards instead stay focused to realise dreams with hard work and honesty. Life becomes meaningful and joy will have no bounds in such instances when success follows everything else, explained Dr. Rao.

An answer to a question gives rise to multiple questions and answers in science, and that is the primary reason why science is very interesting, Dr Rao said drawing young minds towards science and research.

Age is no barrier for achievement, Dr Rao said, answering questions from students and encouraged the students to learn other languages in addition to mother tongue Kannada.

Learning languages aids learning but there is a need to focus on research as well, Dr. Rao added.

A book titled “Don’t say my child is mild” written by Dr. Chandrashekar Damle, President, Sneha Educational Institutions was released on the occasion by Indumathi Rao, wife of Dr. C N R Rao.

Indumathi Rao urged the students to keep their minds clear and keep away from petty quarrels and fights and noted, “Internal freedom helps one to become successful in life.”

Former Kuvempu University Chancellor Dr. Kolambe Chidananda Gowda presided over the function. Padma Shri -2016 award winner Girish Bharadwaj, well known as Bridge Man was honoured on the occasion.
