Mangalore: Panambur police station Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) survived an attempt on his life by a history-sheeter, who tried to mow him down with a speeding car, during an arrest bid on July 21.
ASI Puranadar Gowda had a lucky escape in the Kasaba Bengre limits.
The accused history-sheeter Harris’ car hit an electric pole while attempting to kill the ASI. He later managed to flee along with 3 of his accomplices.
Harris has more than 15 cases pending against him in several police stations and ASI Purandar Gowda was on his way to arrest the accused Harris for his involvement in a dacoity case when the incident took place.
Police had formed two teams to nab him and his accomplices.
An attempt to murder case has been registered at Panambur police station.
