Mangaluru: The Online Taxi Drivers and Owners Association protested here on August 9 by shutting down the online taxi office.
Continuing the protest for the second day, online cab drivers shut down Uber Office at Balamatta urging the company to fulfil their various demands.
B K Imthiyaz, District President of Online Taxi Drivers and Owners Association told media that due to the online cab company’s frequent changes in fare, reduced incentives and increased trips drivers were facing trouble. Companies with an agreement should fix a fare for a year, instead of a week, he suggested. “Earlier for 13 trips, it was Rs 4200 incentive but now we should do 27 trips and the incentive is just Rs 3300. The company has reduced the incentives.To complete 27 trips one has to work for 24 hours”, he said.
He also said that Ola company had agreed to fulfil the drivers’ demands in writing but they had’t nodded for an agreement. Ola Online taxi drivers will resume the service from tonight.
