Bantwal: A systematic beat system for the police, which provides one policeman per village was inaugurated  by Superintendent of Police Bhushan G Borase on Saturday evening at Panemangaluru of Bantwal.

Addressing the reporters, the SP said that the system has in place a team of 50 persons, which includes village representatives from all communities. About 30 per cent of the team members are women. The  team is led by a Constable. The team will visit the village and analyse the problems of the villagers during first and third week of every month. The issues raised by the villagers will be sent to departments concerned for speedy settlement, said the SP adding that a total of 263 such ‘one policeman per village’ teams have been formed in the district. The SI of the respective police station will be the in-charge of the teams, who will look into the progress and working of the team. The purpose of such teams is to ensure that there is a mechanism to ensure friendly policing and to make sure that the problems of the people are heard at the earliest.
