Mangalore: With the state reeling under severe drought situation, the government of Karnataka has decided to underline the need to grow more trees. In this direction, the government has decided to plant six crore sapling during vanamahothsava.
Speaking about the same after planting saplings to mark the event on Monday, Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanath Rai said that Neerigagi Aranya has become inevitable, especially when several trees and animals are vanishing from surface of earth.
Meanwhile, speaking about tension in Bantwal area, Rai said that people should not pay attention to rumours.
The event was organised by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalist Association in collaboration with Forest Department.
