Mangaluru: “Congress has completed 90 percent process of organising and restructuring of the party in the state as well in the district and by one week whole process will be complete”, said former union minister and senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily.
“In the entire state, after September 10, Congress party workers will reach out to the voters promoting the developmental works of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the past four years by distributing the handouts. Congress government has excelled in sectors like economy, industry, investments and manufacturing in the entire country. The government has successfully implemented pro-people programmes favouring all sections of people in the society. Hence due to pro-people’s programmes, Congress has remained in the hearts of the people. Even in next assembly elections people will bring Congress to power”, he said.
Taking a dig at the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the centre, he said the union government was a government of events and words but no development. “BJP government’s demonetisation is a surgical strike done on the common people which also led to deflation and fall in the GDP of the nation. When the UPA was in power the GDP was about 7 percent but in BJP’s regime the GDP has fallen to 5.7 percent leading to deflation.This economical disaster has made way for unemployment, collapse of small scale industries and unorganised sectors. If there was a sensitive PM like Rajiv Gandhi during such economic crisis, he would have resigned from the position. Modi’s government is a government of events but not of performance. Instead of reshuffling in the Cabinet, the PM position should be shuffled”, he ridiculed.
