Mangaluru: Police successfully nabbed three prime accused involved in the murder attempt of Marnamikatte Sandeep Shetty at Bekkeri village in Raibagh taluk of Belagavi district on August 23.
The arrested are Vijay (30) of Monkey Stand, Melrick D’Souza aged 20, of Gorigudda in Valencia and Chotu Praveen aged 23 of Kodikal in Mangaluru.

The longstanding enmity between Sandeep Shetty and Monkey stand Vijay was the reason behind the assault  on May 16 near the auto rickshaw stand where a gang of six members chased Sandeep and attacked him with machetes. A case was registered against the accused at the Mangaluru South police station on the same day.

The police team managed to arrest Nikhil Shetty, Dhanraj and Sampath Bangera in a very short time and they  were produced later to the court. Hunt was launched for the other three prime accused and police teams were sent to places like Madikeri, Bengaluru and Mumbai to trace them.

With the arrest of the prime accused and their associates the police are now trying to trace the people who provided shelter and financial assistance to the accused during the period they went absconding.

Under the guidance of Mangalore South ACP Shruthi and circle inspector Belliappa a team led by Sub inspector Mohammad Sharif arrested the accused at Bekkeri village in Belgaum.
