Minister Parameshwara visits slain Karopady Jaleel’s family

Bantwal/Mangaluru: Home Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday, visited the kin of deceased Congress leader Karopady Abdul Jaleel who was murdered last week.

Parameshwara in the presence of District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai spoke to Jaleel’s family and assured action against the culprits. He also assured compensation to the family.

Later answering a media query on what action would be taken against those involved in criminal activities who escape to Kerala in Kanyana, Karopady which is in the border he said that he would decide after discussing with the officials.

When asked about the outhouse in Kanyana, he said, “I have received the application. I will speak about it with the officials and come to a conclusion.”

It may be recalled that Korapady Taluk Panchayath Vice President Jaleel Karopady was brutally murdered by motorbike-borne masked assailants on April 20. Police have arrested 11 of underworld don Vicky Shetty’s aides in connection with the case.Parameshwara later addressing the media at Mangaluru Congress office said that the truth whether underworld don Vicky Shetty was involved in the Jaleel murder case or not will be out after the investigation was complete.

“Whoever takes law into hands will not be spared and I have instructed the police department to take necessary action against those disrupting peace in the city. We have taken action against those who picketed the office of police commissioner”, he added.

Speaking about the murder of Congress leader Jaleel, he said, “I visited the kin of Jaleel and Karthik Raj on humanitarian grounds. There is nothing political about it. Both the cases have incited communal tension in the region and I have assured action against the culprits.”

He further said that the construction of a new prison in Mudipu was under consideration. It will be finalised after discussing with the officers of the jail, he added and also informed that a new jail superintendent would be appointed at the sub jail soon.

District Minister In-charge Ramanath Rai, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza, Mithun Rai, Ibrahim Kodijal, Congress leaders M S Mohammed, Chandrahas Karkera, M A Gafoor, SP Bhushan Rao Borase and others accompanied the minister.
