Mangaluru: Panic gripped Mangaluru airport for a moment when an Air India flight carrying 173 passengers faced engine failure mid air. The flight Air India Express IX 821 was headed for Doha in Qatar from Mangaluru.
The flight departed at 5.40 PM on September 21 and few minutes later after it took off, i.e, at 6.15 PM, the control room received a call saying there was engine failure. However, the flight landed safely back in Mangaluru Airport, Airport Director V V Rao informed newskarnataka.com.
All passengers will be sent to Doha in another flight at 5.30 am on September 22.
