Mangaluru: City Crime Branch sleuths have foiled a robbery attempt and arrested seven aides of rowdy sheeter Akashabhavan Sharan.
The accused, who came by three bikes, were plotting a robbery in the city near Bejai Big Bazar. After receiving credible information, the CCB police nabbed the prospective robbers on the spot.
The arrested accused are Preetham Poojary, (23), resident of Anandagaram, Kappigudde, Parakshavan, Kavoor, Vishal Kumar, (23) resident of Devinagar, Kunjatbail, Kavoor, Gautam Devadiga,(23) resident of Borugudde, Derebail Kunchadi, Vinod Raj, (21) resident of resident of Moodshedde, Divakar, (29), resident of Moodushedde, Mangalore, Pravin, (25) resident of Krishna Nagar, Thokkottu, and Karthik, (25) resident of Gundalal house, Yeyady.
The police have confiscated three bikes, 6 mobile phones and weapons from the accused.
According to sources, it is learnt that all of the accused were aides of under trail accused Akashabhavan Sharan alias Rohidas.
One of the accused, Preetham Poojary has against him, cases of robbery, threatening and demanding ransom under the jurisdictions of Kadri, Barke and Kavoor police stations. There are two cases against Vishal Kumar under the jurisdictions of Kavoor and Barke police stations.
