Mangaluru: Sandesha Foundation and Edvio Language Institute have announced the launch of German Language courses in the premises of the Foundation from July 16.

The classes are at present scheduled for evenings– 6 pm to 8.30 pm, which is subject to change depending on the requirements of the students. At present, A1 level (first of the six levels) are offered. Students get 120 hours of coaching in a span of three months. Those interested may dial 78996-21036 or 2213278 or 2225480 for details.

Govind Belgaumkar, Chief Language Trainer of Edivio Language Institute said, “We train students for the examinations conducted by Max Mueller Bhavan/Goethe Institut, which is the German Government agency to issue internationally-valid certificates for German language proficiency. Such a certificate is necessary for anyone who aspires to pursue higher studies or seeks jobs in Germany.”

“Unlike other countries, most German Universities collect no tuition fee. This makes learning in Germany affordable. The students from India, who get into German Universities, can also work for four hours a day on part-time basis. This way, they can get highly-valued degrees almost without burdening their parents. German qualification in a student’s resume is valued high thereby enabling them to enhance their earning ability multi-fold. This is because German universities are known for high standards of education.

Germany is also looking for talents from India. Indian students constitute 2nd largest group of international students in German Universities. The number of Indian students in Germany has doubled in the last five years. (Aachan, Munich, Darmstadt, Hamburg are popular destinations). BBC has reported that Germany had been named as the most supportive country for overseas students, in an international league table. Germany sponsors 60,000 international scholarships every year through DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). Students may visit its website (daad.org) for many useful services.”

Those who seek jobs in India are also learning German because many MNCs are hiring them. (For example Siemens, Bosch, Mercedez Benz, software call centres, BPOs, Deutsche Bank, Amazon, HT, etc), he added.

He further said, “A unique feature of the course with us is that upto five seats are offered to the economically disadvantaged candidates from colleges. The principals will have to certify/recommend them. Such candidates will have to attend 90 percent of the classes to be eligible for refund of 30 percent of the tuition fees. Also, if we get more than 20 students to write the examination, Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore is likely to hold examinations in Mangalore.”
