Moodabidri: In a suspected family feud over land, an elderly citizen was killed while his son seriously injured in Karingana of Hosabettu village limits.

Paul Goveas (82) is the deceased while his son Stany Goveas is admitted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru.

On Good Friday, April 14, son Stany had locked his father up and left for church to take part in prayer services at 5 pm. On his return at 7.45 pm, Stany was assaulted first and the attacker killed the father by strangulating him.

Family feud over land ownership between the father and a businessman’s son Dolphy Goveas is suspected to be the prime cause for the murder as both were involved in a prolonged legal battle. In a recent development, Paul Goveas had given his share of property to one of his daughters and handed over the power of attorney to the son at home, Stany Goveas.

Paul’s wife had committed suicide years ago. Among his daughters, 2 are married and settled in Mumbai and Canada respectively while one is a nun, serving in Uttar Pradesh.
