Kasaragod : The special investigation police team nabbed three accused on March 24 in connection with the murder of madrasa teacher.Police team nabbed S Nitin Rao (18) residentof Kelugudde, Akhilesh(25), resident of Sanna Koodlu and Ajesh alias Appu(20)resident of Ayyappanagr in Kelugudde and seized arms and bike employed in the murder of the accused.
Akhiesh is a bank employee where as rest are daily wage workers, police confirmed.
Only Akhilesh reported to work where as rest two were absconding. Their absence gave rise to a needle of suspicion, which eventually led the police team nab the trio.
The murder had drawn nationwide attention and police were under enormous pressure to arrest the accused. The state home department took intelligence reports seriously which hinted at a plot to incite violence in the district. Immediately the state police formed a team under the leadership of DySP Srinivas to nab the accused.
The quick arrest of the trio involved in the murder by the investigating team has drawn wide appreciation from several quarters.
It may be recalled, Riyaz, a madrasa teacher was found murdered here at Halechoori in Battampare in the outskirts of the city on Tuesday, March 21 early morning.The dead body of the deceased, Riyaz (34) a native of Madikeri was found in a pool of blood with his throat slit in the apartment provided to him by the mosque.
The arrested were produced in the court which remanded them to 15 days judicial custody.
