Mangalore: The Department of Urology, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Deralakkate, performed service on a patient with localised kidney cancers using the most advanced surgical robotic system established in this centre nearly 1.5 years ago.

The centre has handled nearly 150 cases thus far using this most advanced surgical robotic system. The Department of Urology has performed more than 15 kidney preserving surgery in patients with localised kidney cancer.

The prime advantage of this surgical system is the precision so that only the tumour can be removed without damaging the kidney.

The other advantages of this technology are minimal blood loss during surgery, early recovery, less post operative pain and in addition, a near normal kidney function.
