Bantwal: A Hindu chief priest died when the car he was driving rolled out of the road and fell into a deep gorge near Vaidyanath Temple on SCS College Road of Bantwal on February 3.
Karthik Bhat, a resident of Vittal and the chief priest of Anantheshwar temple is the deceased.
The incident occurred when the priest was returning from Kateel after offering services. The Fortuner car driven by Karthik Bhat rolled down into a 40 feet deep gorge killing him on the spot.
Kathik’s father Vijay Bhat, mother Deepa Bhat and children named Atharva and Adya escaped miraculously with minor injuries according to Police sources.
A team led by traffic Sub Inspector Chandrashekaraiah visited the accident spot and have registered a case.
