Mangaluru: District Crime Investigation Bureau Police arrested Hindu Jagarana Vedhike leader Jagadish Karanth at the Bengaluru Airport here on Friday September 29.
It may recalled that at the Hindu convention organized at Puttur’s Kille Maidan on September 15, Jagadish Karanth had made a provocative speech abusing the Sampya Police Sub-Inspector Khadar . A case was subsequently registered at the Puttur Town police Station. Today DCIB sleuths arrested Karanth in pursuance of an investigation into the case.
It is also learnt that Jagadish Karanth was returning from a meeting which was held in Bihar. Police arrested him when he reached Bengaluru Airport. Karanth will be brought to Puttur to produce him before the court.
Sathyajith Surthkal, former Hindu Jagarana Vedhike leader speaking to newskarnataka.com condemned the arrest and said that the state government is unnecessarily targeting Hindu leaders.
