Mangaluru: The Hindu Hitharakshana Samthi, which had planned a massive protest in BC Road on June 24 has now decided to postpone the same.
Convener of Hindu Hitharakshana Samthi Dakshina Kannada, advocate Harish Poonja in a news conference, said that the Samthi had planned a protest against the state government on backdrop of continued assaults on Hindus in Dakshina Kannada district. The protest was scheduled on June 24 at BC Road Taluk office, but as the district administration has clamped prohibitory orders, the Samiti has decided to postpone the protest.
“We have decided to postpone the protest to ensure that the law and order situation is not disturbed. Once the Section-144 is lifted we will decide on the protest,” he said holding the state government responsible for deteriorating law and order situation in the district.
“The in-charge minister is favoring one community. This has led to more unrest,” he said.
Raviraj BC Road and other samiti office-bearers were present.
