Mangaluru: Salumarada Thimmakka, the 105-year-old environmentalist, who has to her credit of planting 384 Banyan trees in her native village of Hulikal in Kudur was present in the Port City to inspire young students of St Agnes College to take up environmental causes.
Promoting the theme of ‘nurturing environment in the neighbourhood’, organized by St Agnes College, NSS wing and Inner Wheel on Monday, she planted Oleander sapling as a part of the project of planting plants from St Theresa High School to Vaz Bakery in Bendoor.
Speaking to the gathering the centurion said that it was time to grow nature and stand by it so that nature helps us grow. She said that when we put down nature, it will perish the mankind for sure.
