Kasaragod: The police reportedly have detained four people for their alleged involvement in the murder case of history sheeter Kalia Rafiq. However, an official confirmation from the police on the arrests is awaited.Kasai Ali alias Noor Ali and Rauf from Mannanguli of Uppala , Paddu alias Padmanabha of Paivalike Bavikatte, Rauf alias Meese Rauf of Uppala and another accused from Ullala in Mangaluru are the one’s reportedly detained. Another person who was directly involved in the attack is said to have fled to North India along with his revolver.
Police who raided the houses of the accused as well their hideouts recovered two revolvers, two long knives and other lethal weapons. The car used to chase Kalia rafiq has also been seized by the police.
The police working on the theory that Kalia Rafiq murder was an act of revenge had suspected the role of Kasai Ali from the beginning as he had earlier too attempted to settle scores with Rafiq to avenge the murder of his brother Mutalib in 2012.
It is also gathered that Rauf, another suspect in the case too harbored a grudge against Rafiq after he was recently assaulted and had been left behind buried upto his head in sand in Uppala.
On the day of the incident, Rafiq was on his way to Mangaluru and had reportedly changed two cars since he suspected an attack on him. However, the assailants had rammed the tipper lorry into Rafiq’s car, abandoned it and fled the scene in a car.
