Kasargod: Pallipuram Balan (78), former MLA of Hosadurg died on Saturday in a private hospital of Kannur.
Balan, who was the member of CPI State Committee served as the MLA of Hosadurga in 2006.
Born on October 10, 1939, Balan became active in politics at a very young age.
He was the District Secretary of AIYF Kannur unit and Taluk Secretary, CPI District Joint Secretary, State Committee member and held various other responsible posts.
The dead body of the leader will be brought to Kannur CPI District office at about 2 pm on Sunday for public to offer their respects. The last rites will be performed at Payambala at 4 pm.
