Gundya: Nearly 30 passengers onboard a KSRTC bus had a miraculous escape as the KSRTC bus they were traveling in caught fire near Gundya in Shiradi Ghat on Saturday, April 1 when it was enroute to Bengaluru from Subramanya.
It is gathered that the bus driver was alerted by the smell of plastic burning and immediately asked the passengers to alight from the bus. Meanwhile, smoke started emerging from the bus engine.
However, the driver and the passengers remained mute spectators and could not make any calls for help as their mobile did not have signals. Few passengers took pictures as well as videos of the incident.
Officials from KSRTC arrived at the accident spot later.It is believed that the fire may have been caused due to a short circuit and a technical fault have been blamed as the cause of fire. KSRTC has taken up investigations.
