Kasargod: The endosulfan victims of Kasargod district are gearing up all again to fight for their rights. Alleging that the government has been showing little interest to fulfill their demands, the Endosulfan effected persons have decided to stage indefinite stir from January 30 at 10 am outside Raja Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram.

New government came into existence in Kerala in May 2016 and the endo victims had pinned a lot of hopes on the new government. However, even after eight months passing by, they say that nothing much has changed for them.

Citing the unfortunate incident of two endo victims ending life in November 2016, those gearing up for protest say that the death was mainly caused due to unavailability of medical care and other facilities.

“The victims and their family members have to work very hard to meet the medical expenses. Though a programme named Asha Kiran was started to help the endo victims, the benefits are not available to them,” says a source adding that it is imperative to add all endo victims in BPL list. Kasargod district alone has 3054 endo victims.

Meanwhile, an Endo Cell, which stopped functioning about one year ago has been restarted. State Revenue Minister E Chandrashekaran is the President of the Cell while DC Jeevan Babu is the convener.

MLAs N A Nellikunnu, P B Abdul Razak, K Kunhiraman, M Rajagopal, ZP President A G C Basheer among others are members.
