Mangaluru: If all goes as per plan, then district Wenlock Hospital will soon be upgraded as Regional Hospital and development of the hospital at Rs 28 crore will be taken up.
Participating in an event at Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Deputy Commissioner K G Jagadish on Wednesday said that the upgrade of the hospital on lines of Udupi Government Hospital, which was developed by private players, is out of question.
Since District Wenlock Hospital is catering to health care needs of people from various parts of the state, the Minister for health has shown keen interest in developing the hospital into regional hospital.
Meanwhile, he said that the newly constructed Lady Goschen building will be made functional from February.
