DC directs facilities on priority to Endo victims

Belthangadi: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K G Jagadish directed the officials concerned to provide the facilities from the government to Endosulphan victims and their families on priority.

He was addressing a gathering at a programme by Rehabilitation Centre for Endo victims at Ambedkar Bhavana, Kokkada Belthangady Taluk.

“Endosulphan victims and their families have applied for the facilities from the government through various departments. They should be granted the benefits on priority. Proposal will be sent to the government if necessary to relax some rules. If unnecessarily the facilities are delayed, it will not be tolerated,” he warned.

“Speed up the work of identifying the Endosulphan victims and provide them identity and smart cards. Health department should complete this by August end by visiting the Endo victims. All medicines in government hospitals are provided free of cost. If the Endosulphan victims are treated in private hospitals, it will paid by the government. The administration will provide BPL cards to the family of Endo victims. Education department will provide education to eligible Endo victims by visiting their residence. Under the housing scheme, importance will be given to construct houses and toilets in respective gram pancayats.

To avoid the delay in depositing monthly pension to the victims a meeting will be organised along with various banks and Mangaluru Treasurer. The arrears of monthly pension is already being paid to the victims. Providing pension to the eligible victims is the intention of government. If the government receives any complaint that the undeserving are receiving the pension, it will be withheld.

The existing daycare centre is functioning six days in a week. For managing the daycare, a committee will be formed. For the demands of the Endosulphan victims, a high level committee meeting will be chaired by the health and family welfare minister soon,”he informed.

ZP CEO Dr. Ravi, Puttur AC Raghunandhan Murthy, Mangaluru AC Renukha Prasad, DHO Dr. Ramakrishna Rao and others were present.
