Mangaluru: The Mangalore Bicycle Club took on an early Saturday morning with a ride around the city in a bid to create awareness on oil conservation. On the same note, the members of MbC accompanied marathon cyclist Dr. Mahendra Kaulagud from Dharwad to Farangipet.
Dr. Mahendra Kaulagud is presently on a Cyclothon covering a distance of 1500 kilometers on his bicycle to promote cycling as an alternate mode of travel. 10 cyclists fro MbC joined him at 5.30 AM in Circuit House and cycled with him to Farangipet where they bid adieu to Dr. Mahendra and wished him luck on his mission.
“At MbC, we believe in joining the happiness of riders on their cycling mission irrespective of where they belong to and where they come from. Any cycling enthusiast who passes by Mangalore will be accompanied by our riders until a distance or time which is comfortable for our riders to join”, said Ganesh Nayak, General Secretary of MbC.
After reaching back to Mangaluru from Farangipet, the cyclists of MbC assembled at the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Building in Kottara to join the oil and gas conservation ride. 25 more riders joined the initial 10 at Kottara and rode to PVS Junction and back to create awareness about oil and gas conservation among the people of Mangaluru. The ride was flagged off by the AGM of IOCL at 7.30 AM in Kottara.
