Congress, BJP share victory in Puttur City Council elections

Puttur: Congress and BJP shared three seats each in the City Council elections for which the results were declared on February 15. BJP increased its strength in terms of numbers where as Congress managed to retain the number of seats it held previously.

Sundara Poojary, B Shyamala and Ramesh Rai of BJP won in Ward Numbers 6,16 and 26 respectively where as Swarnalatha Hegde, Johra Nissar Ahmed and Usha Dhanjanay Acharya registered victories in ward numbers 19, 21 and 22 respectively.

Sundara Poojary Badavu of BJP won by a healthy margin of 572 votes in Chikkamudnur ward no 6 whereas Swarnalatha Hegde won by a slender margin of 36 votes in ward No 19 of the city council.
