Mangaluru: In a case of reconversion, an erst Hindu family of five who had converted into Christianity nearly four decades ago, willingly embraced Hinduism at the Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt, in the presence of Shri Rajashekharananda Swamiji.
Aida Thomas, 70, now Gauri Poojarthi, her son, daughter-in-law and grand children, residents of Padavinangady in Mangaluru had expressed their inclination to reembrace Hinduism a few years back during a visit to the mutt. Despite an initial reluctance on the part of the mutt members the family pursued its efforts and reapproached the mutt recently.
The mutt, it is gathered then undertook the process of reconversion, including the legal formalities after being reassured that the family was willingly choosing to embrace Hinduism. The reconversion of the family took place after the ‘Shudhi Kalasha Snana’ on Monday and other rituals. However, while returning to the Hindu fold, the family preferred to become Billavas.
