Mangaluru: Opposing Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state, the BJP, despite restriction order by Mangaluru City Police Commissioner issued under Karnataka police Act 35 (3), took out a procession from Jyothi to Nehru Maidan here on September 7.

After the meet, BJP leaders, workers moved towards DC office from Jyothi Circle, though the police tried to detain and stop massive crowd after a heated argument, the mob rushed towards Nehru Maidan. Meanwhile, police went ahead and detained party workers and leaders. Amid the skirmish, a handful of bikers were successful in riding through the procession.

B S Yeddyurappa, BJP State President in his address, said, ” The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government is a shameless government which has turned a peaceful state into a violent one. After K C Venugopal took charge as Karnataka Congress In-charge, the violence against Hindu activists have increased. Law and order situation in the state has deteriorated under the Congress government.”

He continued, “We are living in a democratic setup. What is the loss to CM, if we hold the bike rally? Are you trying to invoke undeclared emergency in the state? Very soon you will end this street play and it will not last too long.

The Supreme Court has asked the CBI to investigate into DySP Ganapathi’s death case. CM Siddramaiah should withdraw K J George from the position of minister. And even Ramanath Rai should be dropped from the cabinet.” He also said that BJP government would come to power in coming days.

Senior leader Jagadish Shettar in his speech, stated that it was the end of Siddaramaiah’s government in the state. “Everyone has a right to protest in democracy. Scuttling it is a black mark on democracy. People of Karnataka will send Congress home in the coming elections.”

BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje said that Siddaramaiah was imposing arbitrary emergency in the state. Youths who were peacefully joining the bike rally were arrested, she charged.

She also asserted on BJP coming to power, it would ban PFI, SDPI and KFD.

BJP leaders K S Eshwarappa, R Ashok, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and BJP Yuva Morcha State President also spoke on the occasion.
