Chikkamagaluru: Residents of Vijayapura in Chikkamagalur were out for a surprise on September 25th morning as they found an ancient granary. This archaeological wonder surfaced on its own when the mud caved in around the granary area.
Now hundreds of people are rushing to view the ancient food granary which might have been used to store food grains after harvest by people in days of yore. Two to three granaries were found in the same locality some time ago but were filled up. This granary is 8 feet in depth and has lot of internal space.
Locals marveled at the site and presume the granary may be more than 1000 years old.
Fear too has engulfed among the residents nearby as they are worried about the safety of their children and residents nearby and are insisting on its closure and want government officials to act immediately on its closure.
