Puttur: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught the Deputy Director of Town Planning Authority red-handed in her office at Puttur, while accepting a bribe for land conversion on April 12.
ACB team led by Inspector Yogish trapped Lavanya while accepting Rs 10,000 in bribe.
Rammohan Pai, a resident of Boluvaru village had sought the conversion of a 26 cents land from the Town Planning Authority. Due to poor health, he assigned the job to his friend Keshav Poojary. When Kehsav Poojary approached Lavanya, she demanded a bribe of Rs 20000 bribe which was then scaled down to Rs 10000 after negotiations.
Keshav informed the ACB officials of the demand, who succeeded in trapping the corrupt official red-handed.
Lavanya was arrested by ACB sleuths under the 1998 Anti Corruption Act and later handed over to judicial custody of the Third Additional Sessions court in Mangaluru.
