Mangalore: The Kadri police arrested a woman on Friday July 25 after she allegedly slapped the lady PSI of Kadri traffic police during a traffic incident at the Hampankatta signal on Thursday July 24.

The woman has been identified as Kinjal Gandhi, wife of Ashok Shenoy a resident of Kavoor.

According to the police, Kinjal has been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from doing duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Reportedly Kinjal was riding a bike without wearing a helmet when she collided with an Omni. The traffic police woman present at the spot took charge of the situation. The cop then let the Omni driver go and held Kinjal on charges of not wearing a helmet.

Kinjal started arguing with the the police woman, about the accident –  that it was the fault of the Omni driver and argued to let her go on that premise. The two women then began to quarrel on the issue of her further detention on an unrelated charge, when in a rage Kinjal slapped the traffic woman and a chaos ensued as the public began to gather.

Later a case was registered and Kinjal managed to escape from the spot, however on the police arrested her once again.

Kinjal basically belongs from Gujarat; she is a lecturer in a college at Payannur, Kerala.
