Kasargod: An alleged murderer, who killed a teenage girl in 2006, has been arrested from Nashik in Maharashtra by the police team led by DySP T P Ranjith on Wednesday August 27.
The arrested has been identified as 33-year-old Umar Byari a resident of Ujire in Beltangady.
Accusingly Umar killed 17-year-old Fathimath Zuhara daughter of Uluvar resident Abubakker. He had slaughtered her throat after entering her house on December 28, 2006 at Bambrana Uluvar in Kumble.
The police had arrested him earlier; however he was successful in acquiring a bail soon after which he went absconding.
Umar Byari was acquainted to the girl and had forced her to have physical relationship with him but when she denied he killed her, it is alleged.
The police team which came to know that he was hiding in Maharashta, conducted search operation and arrested him on Wednesday night, August 27.
The police have said that he was working in Nashik as a contract laborer. To avoid identification, Umar had grown his hair long and changed his looks.
ASI Balakrishnan, Pradeep Kumar Chavara, Sinis Siriak, Saifuddin, Sunil Abraham and others were part of the police team.
