Mangaluru: At a time when the social media is under strict vigil over a few hate comments in the city, the Surathkal police are coordinating with the Bengaluru Cyber Cell to unearth the culprit behind the posting of the picture of students in Govinda Das College on facebook.

Sources in the police said the Suratkal police wrote a letter to the Cyber Cell and sought assistance to identify the  person behind uploading the photograph of a playful moment. The police also asked their help to find the person who circulated the doctored photo of a girl (girl involved in the first post) allegedly claiming she had committed suicide.

Another source in the department expressed the view that since the server is located abroad, it would take a minimum of two months to procure the pertinent details. However the Suratkal police earlier had arrested two in connection with the mob lynching of a Mohammed Riyaz. The two arrested accused were identified as Chittaranjan and Guruprasad. They are currently in judicial custody. No case against girls and Riyaz was filed, police stated.
