Mangalore: Six students were allegedly assaulted with stones and a rod by miscreants at Pumpwell here on Thursday, September 18.
Kankanady Rural Police station gave the names of injured as Kalandar Shahid, Shameem, Mohammed Shahad, Ashique, Asfatulla and Shahbaz. All of them are students of Mangalore Institute of Fire Safety Engineering College. They are admitted to hospital.
The police said it was an act of revenge.
An eye witness said around 20 persons came in a four-wheeler to physically assault the six students. Among the six, Kalandar’s condition is said to be serious.
It’s learnt the misunderstanding between two group of students belonging to one particular college turned out to be matter for fight. Earlier, the principal of the college held a talk with both the groups and the issue was mutually solved.
However, the other group which could not digest the issue, physically assaulted the six students as a matter of revenge.
The assaulters are identified as Punith Raj Kottary, Pradeep Pumpwell and Pramod Suvarna.
