Mangalore: The residence of Baptist Louis in Patrao lane  in which he along with his two daughters were residing for the past nearly 40 years, was demolished by the St Aloysius College management, with the help of a JCB and other persons.

It is learnt that the residents were evicted physically, before it was demolished. However their belongings including a laptop remained under the rubble after it was demolished as the residents were not given a chance to remove them before the demolition.

According to the residents, the demolition squad came around 2.30 PM when Mr. John Baptist was alone in the house,His daughters were away at work and returned immediately, when informed by their uncle. On their arrival, the Priests went away and the squad withdrew, but by then the demolition was complete.

According to John Baptist, the matter is in court and they have carried out the demolition without any notice, the residents said they have informed the Bunder police who reached the spot.

In the meanwhile it is learnt from the neighbors and other sources, that the demolished residence belonged to one Mrs. Alice a spinster who had willed it to the St. Aloysius Institutions.  John Baptist was the adopted son of Mrs. Alice and had been residing there for almost 40 years.  On her death, St. Aloysius laid claim to the property, but John Baptist along with his two daughters Melita and Savitha refused to vacate as they claimed ownership by virtue of being her adopted son.  The dispute was in court and was pending resolution when the demolition took place.
