Rickshaw driver murder case; 3 more held

Bantwal : Rural police have arrested three more accused in connection with the murder case of Maripalla Rickshaw driver Mohammad Rifai(28).

The number of arrested is now eight.

The arrested are identified as Hafeez(27), Haneef(30) and Imran(25) residents of Maripalla.

Police arrested them here on saturday in Uppinangady. The arrested were produced in the court on Tuesday August 19 and have been taken into custody.

Police had earlier arrested Kasargod resident Siraj(32), Dhanraj(20) resident of Arkula in Mangalore, Asif(20) resident of Perimar and Shahabuddin from Kadaba and Ujire resident Ganesh and took them into custody. Siraj, son of Abdul Khader is the brother of Naushad, who was murdered on June 21.

The arrested are shifted to prisons outside the district. Both the murder cases took place in Maripalla are inter-connected, so for security reason they are being shifted.

Deceased Mohammad Rifai is the relative of Naushad’s murderers. So it might be a revenge murder, police suspected.
