Rain havoc continues; houses damaged in Bantwal

Bantwal: Heavy rain lashed Dakshina Kannada here on Saturday and sunday. Many houses were damaged due to lightning and thunder.

A cow owned by Sridhar Gowda was killed by lightning in Perne village.

The house roof belonging to Parvati was completely damaged after a huge tree fell on it near Kundelu in Pudu village following gusty wind and rain.

Even a house of late Chandrashekar Acharya’s wife Umavathi Acharya in Palike Janatha Colony has been partially damaged. Umavathi and her son had gone to her daughter’s house and thus escaped from any danger.

In Vittal near Kanthadka, a madrasa was damaged and also a teacher and students were injured. All electrical appliances were damaged in the incident.

District panchayat member M S Mohammad visited the spot. Bantwal Tahsildar Malleswamy and revenue officers visited the victims and assessed the loss.
