Mangaluru: The ongoing Padil-Bajal Road Under Bridge(RUB) work was inspected by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo here on Monday.

After visiting the site, both the elected representatives directed MCC officials to maintain better co-ordination with the department of railways to carry out the work efficiently.

There is a need to shift the water supply pipes and to construct the service road. The work would be done at the earliest to prevent a mudslide during rainy season. All the technical hurdles faced by the Road Under Bridge will be solved, the MP told reporters.

The work is expected to be completed by October, but in a bid to reach the deadline, poor work should not be carried out, said MP.

During the work, there was a mudslide recently resulting in the death of a worker.

MLA J R Lobo said the present level is very low which will result in water flowing inwards during rainy season. Hence, possibilities of raising the base will be looked into, he said.

The decision regarding this will be taken in a technical meeting. the main water supply pipeline needs to be shifted. There has been a delay on the part of the MCC towards adopting a policy towards UDG connections and the issue will be finalized in the MCC meeting, he said.
