Mangalore: Commissioner R Hitendra on Sunday October 20,assured at he will take appropriate action against sub inspector after DCP crime, submits the investigation report. This assurance brought relief to the on-going third day protest by the VHP and Bajrang dal at Kavoor police station against SI Umesh
The agitation that was led by VHP leader Jagdish Shenava, had called for a Kavoor bandh on Monday, October 20, which was later withdrawn by the activists after the commissioners statement.
Speaking on the third-day of the protest Jagadish Shenava confirmed stating that they had met the police commissioner for the suspension of SI Umesh and that the commissioner has given them assurance of recording Charan’s statement on Monday October 20th and and taking appropriate action in due course. Shenava added that if the said is not done, the sangh will continue with the protest.
He also said, “For the past three days I received calls from many persons to stop the protest. DCP and ACP had also requested me to end the agitation, however I am firm on my decision and the concern of our member is a priority.”
Addressing the protesters MP Nalin Kumar Kateel alleged that the Congress using the power of the state, have made several assaults on Sangh Parivar activists. “They have been fixed in false cases and assaulted by the police. Bajrang Dal activist Charan is not the first victim of SI Umesh”, he said, “In 9 months Umesh has assaulted more than 9 activists of the Sangh Parivar”, he added
He further said that we are peacefully protesting and demanding for the suspension of SI Umesh. However, if he is not suspended by October 19, the BJP will take a step and call for a district bandh, he said.
MP Nalin said that the state leaders, B S Yeddyurappa and Suresh Kumar visited the Kavoor police station and assured the protesters that justice will be given to the victim. “Police officers are acting like congress agents and they are assaulting our party workers”, he accused.
