Kasargod :The Railway Police arrested a person in connection with a theft incident in a running train here on Wednesday August 27.
The arrested has been identified as 29-year-old Sakariya from Tamarasheriya in Kozikode.
Allegedly on August 14, he had assaulted a woman named 26-year-old Suma, a resident of Palakkad in Kumble railway station and robbed gold and cash.
Suma was travelling to Kozikode from Mangalore and is said to be alone in the compartment.
It can be recollected that on the day of the incident that at around 5.30am when the train reached Manjeshwar railway station, the thief entered the train and tried to loot her. But when she objected he assaulted her and escaped with gold chain worth 2 pounds and cash.
Sakariya was interrogated when the police were investigating about another theft case. During confrontation he accepted to this crime.
