Mangaluru: Nivedith Alva, son of former union minister and Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva on Thursday assumed the charge as chairman of Coastal Development Authority, here in the city. Earlier, Nivedith Alva worked as secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
The post was lying vacant after B. Nagaraj Shetty, resigned from the BJP to join JD(S) in the past.
Speaking to reporters after assuming the charge, Nivedith Alva said, “The first priority is to develop 44 beaches from Mangaluru to Uthara Kannada and the state government is keen about it. The government has written a letter to the Costal Regulatory Zone to relax its norms. This will help tourism”, he said.
“Coastal Development Authority will time and again remain in touch with people, by updating our works in the social media and website. We are open to feedback”, he said.
Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo said funds were an issue for the Authority and urged the new Chairman to organise a Coastal investors meet to ensure corporate participation in developing fishing harbours, beaches and tourist spots.
Mayor Mahabala Marla, Suresh Ballal were among others present at the occasion.
