Mangaluru: Komal and Aditya Bharghav, students of Sharada Vidyanikethana Public School, Talapady here have been selected to represent Indian in the international Science Fair to be held in the United States of America.
Their paper on inventing a machine using NANO materials that convert harmful gases in the environment into harmless gases have been awarded the gold medal in the national level science fair conducted by the Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science (IRIS) held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat in December this year, stated a press release.
The two students presented their project under ‘Engineering: Materials and Bioengineering about Smart Nanodevices-Future for clean air and green world. They were mentored by Ganesh Shastri, Biology faculty at Sharada Vidyanikethana. They were also guided in their experiments by Inorganic physics Chemistry and Nano Sciences and Engineering Department at IISc., Bengaluru.
Komal told reporters that their invention can replace huge filters presently being used by pollution control board which take two to three days to detect minute quantities of harmful gases where their Nano material technology can do so in mere 20 seconds.
Vinayak B.G, vice-principal said that Komal and Aditya Bhargav are regular class toppers in the school and have won numerous competitions individually and as a team.
Prof. MB Puranik, president of the institution congratulated winners and wished them well for the future. Sushma Dinkar, principal were present at the press meet.
